How to reach us
Kefalonia can be reached by airplane or ferry boat. There is an international airport on the island, which has daily charter flights from Athens, London, Vienna and other main airports throughout Europe. There is always the option to fly to Athens and then get the flight Athens - Kefalonia , which is either early morning or late night flights.
An alternative transportation option would be to fly to Athens and then hire a car to get to the island using the Patra - Sami or Killini - Poros ferry lines.
So, in case you fly to Athens and then drive to Kefalonia:
(1) You drive to port of Patra (mainland Greece - 2 hrs - national road). Then you take the ferry to Sami (island`s main port), about 3 hours trip. Captains house is 40 min drive from Sami port.
(2) Another option is to drive further for 45 minutes from Patra to Killini port and take the ferry to Poros port. After a 1h.30 min ferry trip you arrive in kefalonia, it takes just 10 min drive to skala and captains house.

It is suggested that you make your reservation one month in advance of your trip.
No payment needed at this stage, yet the tickets are reserved for you till date of departure.
You just show up, pay in cash and travel!

As for visiting nearby islands, there is a frequent ferry connection to Lefkas from Fiskardo/Kefalonia and to Ithaka from Sami/Kefalonia. Ferry from Pessada/Kefalonia to Zante has to be confirmed on the spot. Exact itineraries and ticket booking are available at local travel agencies in Skala village.
